We’ve been to Mama Gertie’s twice and it’s been great! Super clean and well kept. The best bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a campsite! They even have a little store to grab anything you may have forgotten. Friendly staff and good prices. We will definitely be back!
We tried to get a spot here but they were booked. Drove by anyways to take a look. They were so friendly and had a gentleman take us around in a golf cart to see all their campground. It is truly amazing! Already booked our stay here for next year. Everything was so clean and staff went above and beyond to help us even though we weren’t guests…can’t wait to stay here!
We were able to stay up top for a short weekend. There has been great detail in the layout and flow of the campground. We have a long truck and 38 ft tag and had no problems getting in and out. Everything was maintained beautifully and kept clean. The bath houses were beautifully designed. Never seen bath houses that nice. The campground is conveniently located to the interstate, however you can not hear any road noise. Definitely would put this on our list to revisit.
Camped there last 2 nights. Great place!! We’ll be back. We camped at the top, but not one of the 3 Premium ones with deck. But this beautiful view!
Everything was as advertised. Friendly staff. Clean facilities!
Highly recommend this campground!
Excellent RV sites though important to navigate safely around rock Follow the valet to the letter!! Thanks Paul for your service and hospitality!
Very nice campground. The staff was extremely helpful and the place is well maintained.
Absolutely gorgeous! We just left there yesterday. Stayed 3 nights and didn’t want to leave. We stayed in one of the cabins and had a gorgeous view. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Very friendly people. We plan to return.
Just stayed there this past weekend (Early June 2018) We had a wonderful time. The site was well maintained. Staff was very courteous and helpful and the view was phenomenal. Can’t see how it could get much better, but we’ll keep looking! Highly recommended
Loved our spot by the creek that provided the perfect nature noise while sitting around the campfire. Facilities were extremely clean, couldn’t have asked for better.
Good location, close to Asheville, Black Mountain & Blue Ridge Parkway. Easy to get to. Nice level sites, clean, lot’s of trees, hilly, but manageable. Very clean bathrooms/showers/laundry. Glad we stayed!
This was my first experience with this campground, but have heard from others who have used it several times and they love it. Very good experience. Some tent sites, some cute cabins and plenty of RV sites. Very, very clean. Bath houses with restrooms and showers, very clean. Cabin was tiny and cozy with a small porch, porch swing, picnic table, fire pit and grill. It’s cool, quiet, beautiful. Great spot for family camping. Friendly staff, small store on site. Even a workout room with several machines and free weights. Near Asheville and close to hiking trails and waterfalls. I will definitely visit again!!
We only stayed one night just passing through. It was beautiful at the top of the mountain. Want to go back!
This campground is absolutely beautiful. There is a lot of attention to detail here. The grounds are well maintained. They even have patches of green grass in the winter. There is running water throughput the campground making the entire area magical. We did not check the bathrooms. We will definitely be coming back!
We LOVED this campground. We only stayed over the weekend, but wished we could have stayed longer. The campground was neat and clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. We’re already planning our next trip! We’ll be back. Highly recommend!
Great facilities/bathrooms and very honest hard-working staff. Left my wedding ring in the showers and got it from the lost and found! Not many places would that have been possible. We will be coming back every time we decide to camp. Thank you!
This campsite is very clean and well maintained. The mountain site that we had was very windy and the first night it went down to 29. This is not the fault of the campground. Owners were very nice and checked on us to make sure we were ok. The sites are nestled on a mountain side with tight security which we liked.
The views, the cleanliness of the grounds and facilities and the proximity to Asheville. You’re not far from the city, the mountains and fun.
Fantastic. We are from NZ and travelling around eastern USA. Have been on the road 5 weeks, different campground most nights. This was simply the best and so reasonable we stayed 3 nights.
This is a beautiful topnotch campground! Impressive treed sites, fire rings, and clean picnic tables! All the amenities you need. While we’re not fans of separate showers and restrooms, they were very nice. Accessible to local and regional recreation. We’ll come back!
Looking to get away for Memorial Day weekend we chose to stay close to home. The wife and I both loved it, peaceful and quite, small spring came out behind our campsite and you could sit outside, hear the water trickling over the rocks and a light breeze rustling the leaves…Ultimate relaxing atmosphere. Super friendly staff and very clean grounds. Hooks were nicest I have ever seen and the cable was unbelievably clear. Already made reservations for our next stay.
Out new FAVORITE campground. Security gate, best WiFi ever, full services, roomy and FLAT gravel sites, and friendly staff … all near the top of a mountain with seriously breath-taking views. The winding, steep-grade road up to the sites may be challenging for a new driver, but navigating IS do-able. Sites have fire pits and nice picnic tables. Hookups (water, electric, sewer) were very clean and looked new. Entire campground was very well maintained.
All this beauty and quiet serenity is only about 15 miles from Asheville with great restaurants, shopping, street entertainers, farmers market and Friday night drumming circles.
We made a last minute overnight reservation for one of the highest camp sites near the new bath house. Couldn’t help but admire the neighboring sites that had overhanging decks and swings (reserved well in advance) and enjoy the breathtaking view that was just a short walk from our own campsite. The private bathhouse showers were LUXURIOUS and impeccably clean. We had no difficulty navigating in and out with our 24 foot rig. I appreciated the gated entry and the cleanliness of the grounds. Next year, when the sky sites are open again, we will make Mama Gertie’s a destination vacation and have another FABULOUS breakfast at Blue Ridge Biscuit while we are at it!
This campground is a short trip from the city, well worth the travel if you want a nice place to stay. There is a camp store on the grounds that offers all of the essentials and more. Restrooms and showers are clean and private. Lots a trees give you a little bit of privacy from other sites. Anytime we travel near Asheville we make it a point to camp here.
We stayed at Mama Gertie’s for 4 days while checking out Asheville and other near by cities. My husband and I have stayed at campgrounds all across the country and this may have been the best one we have ever stayed at! The staff was all extremely helpful and friendly, the whole campground was extremely clean, the views are beautiful and they are very dog friendly! I highly recommend this campground and we are already looking to book our next visit with them!
Easily our favorite of the RV parks in the Asheville area that we’ve visited. Well cared for with large pretty well spaced sites. Enough distance from the highway to kill the noise. Trees, native vegetation, a creek. Nice laundry and showers. Decent walking up and down the park with plenty of dog waste stations. Friendly and accommodating staff.
We stayed down in the lower part of the campground so no expansive views but it’s also quieter down there with more vegetation between the sites. Up top you get the views out across the valley but also pick up more noise from the Interstate. Both Verizon and AT&T were 4G and plenty fast for work and video calls.
It was literally perfect. Go see for yourselves. I camped overnight and the area received three inches of rain. There was no mud, biting bugs, or pooling of water. I walked barefoot to the pristine shower/restroom area that night and morning after. I’ll be staying here literally every time I’m in the area. Seriously, forget a hotel. Stoked to have found this beautiful little hideaway!
We have stayed in a lot of different campgrounds, this one exceeded our expectations each day during a 5 day stay. 🙂
Very clean, quiet…and by far the most meticulously well maintained campground we’ve visited. We don’t have children, so the lack of playground, pool and other kid focused stuff was a bonus for us. Everybody was nice and helpful – and the view from the tippy top was amazing for sunsets.
Yes, the sites are stacked on top of each other (we were in 10) but the way they designed Mama Gertie’s was smart – there are terraced sites with rock walls or landscaping to give sites some privacy.
The restrooms were fantastic. Toilets were group stalls (separate men’s and womens, of course) and the showers were private, separate mini-rooms. Again, both were impressive in their cleanliness and maintenance.
The prices for wood, ice, etc – reasonable and not jacked up so that was appreciated and did not go unnoticed.
We could tell the owners of this place love their little campground, we love it too.
Ed and I were sad to leave – we’ll be back for sure!
This is without a doubt one of the very best campgrounds we’ve ever stayed in and we’ve been in hundreds across the country. Every area is well landscaped and beautiful, the laundry and restrooms are clean as a whistle (and the laundry isn’t exorbitantly expensive like many places are). We stayed in the new section way atop the hill and the views of the Smokies/Blue Ridge mtns are spectacular. Special attention has been made to leveling of sites and providing for pets. all sites are graveled and take care of rain runoff. Would come here again in a heartbeat. Sites cost more, but you _do_ get what you pay for. Wonderful family run campground. You won’t regret visiting.
Outstanding campground. Landscaping is beautifully done. Sites are very nice. Lots of trees in the lower section. Great views of surrounding area in the upper section. Showers, restrooms, and laundry room are impeccably clean. Located off I-40 exit #59. Easy access to Asheville area activities. If back in the area, will definitely use this campground again.
A stay at Mama Gertie’s is a MUST when visiting Asheville!
For the last 20 months, we’ve been traveling this amazing country of ours and this is one of the best RV campgrounds we’ve had the pleasure of staying in, hands down.
Starting with the first phone call, the staff here treat you like family. Good family ;o). They’re professional, warm, and friendly. Unfortunately, customer service seems to be lacking at many campgrounds, not so here. These folks ROCK!On to the park ambiance. This campground is BEAUTIFUL! Hugging the hillside, the park sites range from those that are tucked in between wonderful foliage OR those that sit at the top of the mountain. The mountain top sites have incredible views. Amazing sunrises & sunsets! Also, each site had a portable fire pit. Neat!
The laundry facilities were spot on, with plenty of machines that were well cared for. There’s even a library exchange, and the bathrooms (we didn’t use them) were beyond spotless. Wow! The main office houses the laundry etc. and has rockers and a porch swing to hang out and enjoy the views.
One caveat as stated above, this park is tucked up a mountainside, so driving the RV to our site mountain top was definitely left up to my husband ;o). If you’re a walker, you can walk down to the office and the staff will drive you back up to your site. Now that’s service!
This park allows great access to all things Asheville and even closer proximity to Black Mountain. So, stay a spell, you’ll be glad you did!
Friendly ownership and staff, cleanest bathrooms and showers anywhere, beautiful wooded areas, streams, and rock landscaping, near everything in Asheville / Black Mountain area, cute little wood cabins at reasonable prices… best kept secret in Western NC camping!
